Yummy Cream Cheese Bread

Ingredients:

 

8 ounces sour cream, scalded

½ cup sugar

½ cup melted butter

2 eggs, beaten

1 teaspoon salt

2 packages dry yeast (5 tsp)

½ cup warm water (between 105 degrees to 115 degrees)

4 cups all purpose flour

Directions: 

Combine sour cream, sugar, butter, and salt.  Mix well and cool to lukewarm.  In large bowl dissolve yeast in warm water.  Stir in sour cream mixture and eggs.  Slowly add flour.  Mix well.  Cover and let dough rise until double about 1 to 1 ½ hours or refrigerate overnight.  Divide dough in half.  Knead each portion about 10 times.  Roll each into a rectangle.  Spread half of the filling over dough leaving ½” margin around edges.  Roll up jelly roll fashion on long side.  Pinch edges to seal.  Place in greased round pan twisting dough to fill pan.  Cover and let stand in warm place about one hour until double in size.  Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown.  Glaze while warm. 

Filling:

2 – 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature

¾ cup sugar

1 egg, beaten

1/8 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons vanilla 

Mix until smooth. 

Glaze:

2 cups sifted powdered sugar

¼ cup milk

2 teaspoons vanilla

 

Stir all ingredients until smooth.
